Louise J. Riley to Speak to the Society, on November 22, 2010

The Saluda County Historical Society is pleased to announce that Louise J. Riley will speak concerning her new book: Sherman’s Army Marches Into South Carolina & Lexington County, February 1865. The date of the program is November 22, 2010, 7:30 pm at the Saluda County Historical Museum, 220 Law Range, Saluda, SC. The Museum is located across the street from the Saluda County Court House.

Mrs. Riley is well known in the Batesburg-Leesville area because she has written a column, Remembrances, for over ten years. Have you ever wondered really what the Civil War was like to those in this area, or did you think the war just passed them by, and the folks in this area were not affected by the Civil War? Mrs. Riley answers that question with maps, lots of local stories, family letters, newspaper articles, biographies and historical sketches published at that time.
